Ok I finally broke down and got a 2 stroke. The engine is locked up. I figure as long as I have it apart I might as well upgrade it. Anyone know where I can get a big bore kit for it? I WILL NOT buy anything off ebay!

Good luck with that. It's getting harder by the day to find big bore kits for the air cooled 250Rs.

You may get lucky and find one for sale ready to go. I thought about parting mine out, I just don't want to get stuck with the parts after the engine and pipe are gone.

Check out Kustom Kraft Performance. I've got an 82 R and have been thinking about doing their Big Bore kit. From what I've read they do good work. Save your money! Rebuild it. Porting, head work, bigger carb and pipe. These little R's can be built if you get the right combo.
