Can I get a definitive answer: Blaster engine in a 1st gen 200x

So, I have recently procured a Blaster on the cheap. Runs but needs crank seals and alot of chassis bearings, bushings, etc. I also have my name on a real descent 1st gen 200x roller.

I have heard here and there a Blaster engine swap is not too bad to do but after searching I have only come up with threads full of speculation and no solid answers. I did find one thread where someone did one in a 2nd gen 200x. But nothing definitive on a 1st gen.

    Anybody do one?

I am willing and able to do moderate levels of chassis mods to make it happen, but I don't think I am ready to try anything drastic..

    Advice?

    Thanks!

Sorry I can't offer much help in the topic… but I can offer this hilarious video of a blaster engine in an x.

Com'on Joe and be the first to do it (take one for the team) and please take good pictures! I have wondered this for a long time and have never found any evidence of someone actually doing it. I honestly thought ol' deuce would have been the first but chose the 175 instead. Talk about a wild ride!

That was an awesome video, that makes me want one so bad. I love the 200x, the blaster is the perfect 2-stoke motor size for me on my trails, what a fun machine would that be. Plus you can get both machines for cheap. Keep us updated, very interesting.

I only hope mine comes out looking a little better than that one. I probably won't have all the "custom" goodies on mine though..LOL!

I think the problem putting one in a first gen is going to be the exhaust hitting the down tube. Second gen frame is probably a lot easier, first gen you would need to mod the frame for a double down tube or cut and bend the exhaust around the stock downtube.

Well I can assure you, I wouldn't defile a 2nd gen 200x by putting a Blaster engine in it!

I am not as familiar with the finer details of the 1st gens and that is exactly the kind of information I am looking for.

    Thank you for that.

Damn way to beat up on that poor thing lol. I got to admit though that was some good riding haha. The outcome at the end looked good as well.

    Would be a sweet swap.

Are you planning to use the 200x swingarm or the blaster swingarm. The blaster motor is setup with the swingarm bolt going threw the back of the motor. The 200x is not. Im planning a blaster powered trike in the future Im going to use a third gen 250r frame. Mart and OlDeuce both have built 200xs with 125 and 175 honda dirtbike motors in them .Mart used a liquid cooled motor and Oldeuce used an old aircooled Elsinore 175 motor. Both builds are on here. Pic of OlDeuces 175.Click image for larger version.

God damnit now I have to do this so heres the plan I have been brewing up for a while now. vito's 240 kit, 3 mil stroker, boyesen rad valvefat bas tard pipe and silencer, tors removed, mx port, milled head. will take me a while on this build as I already have the old lady on my back about the new x im getting after she caught a glimpse of the bank statement so if anyone has a blaster bottom end they don't want I am now looking for one. gonna do the 200x in dark metallic purple, chrome and white, +2 swinger +2 axle with 300ex hubs 22" paddles on 10 inch rims 350x headlight 89 Suzuki katana sequential led tail light, custom seat cover cut rear maier plastics 86/87 front fender inverted forks twist throttle, modified elka shock sourced from one of my banshees. this is gonna take a while and a lot of money so if anyone wants to help out with parts shoot me a pm on what you got and how much you want. I have a bone stock 84x
    200x build

great idea! that was my dream bike a 200x w a blaster engine would be a perfect bike. a 1st gen r has more power and is the same size tho, only downfall is the x suspension and handling is better.
hes right the 1st gen x would hit the downtube and hes also right not to mess with a rare 2nd gen x, those motors put out close to blaster power anyways.
either way great idea cant wait to see it!

you can put a slight bend in the expansion chamber neck to get it to clear the downtube and you will of course want to grind the swingarm bolt hole off the motor and slide the engine back a tad
Edit: I don't mean bending the pipe I mean cutting and angleing
as far as 200x putting out as much as a blaster you may be right im not sure but I have raced 200x's on my blaster and the blaster is more powerful. I wish I still owned mine to show you I am not just guessing at the power of a blaster I have a pic of the blaster I spent a lot of time on (sold now) also check out my helmet as per billys suggestion in the rules section Click image for larger version.
