1984 200ES atc.. what exhaust do you recommend?

looking to add some power BUT don't want it to loud and annoying.. What exhausts do you recommend?

If you're thinking to change the exhaust from stock to aftermarket just to gain power you best hang onto your money!!

An exhaust change up isn't gonna net you enough extra power to make worth while in my opinion. Just make loud and obnoxious!

The 200ES is a brick shlthouse when it comes to power, especially in low range..but speed? Not much more can be done there..

It's a utility machine, not a speedster!

Some simple options to get a noticeable increase in power are:

Increase gear ratio by installing either a larger rear gear or a smaller front one = mildly to moderately noticeable.

Increase the compression = mildly noticeable.

Install a big bore kit = moderately noticeable and the kit would benefit from improved exhaust system.

I had to replace my rotted out exhaust on my 200ES, i went with the DG series replacement. Added power? Eh not really.. Better top end? Not really... Throttle response seems better but i am comparing to a stock exhaust that was in rough condition in the first place.

Louder? Yes, but then the stock exhaust on mine was partially rotted out, so it wasn't very quiet either, to some extent the DG exhaust was quieter than my stock exhaust. I can't complain, its not annoyingly loud but some might find it offensive.

if any mod to that bike works its a high comp piston, thats what i did to my 83 red

Little difficult to change front gears and rear gears in a shaft drive. I have a bassani on my 83 200e. Like everyone has said. Meh not worth the cash. I only noticed better throttle response compared to the old shot exhaust. But I enjoy it non the less.

Nope the 84 was the first year for a shaft drive with reverse in the big red.

Quit Possible the 82 and the 83 where both chain drive with electric start just lacking shaft drive and reverse. I wish mine was an 84 but I'll settle with my 83 since it was free.

My big red 200 had high and low range operated by a lever on the left side of the motor electric start and pull start. It also had front and rear racks and a nerf bar style bar that protected the feet in front of the pegs.

Almost identical except for the tires. Maybe mine was shaft driven its been at least 10 years haha

The 84 200E was chain drive with a hi/lo shifter. So you probably had an 84 200E. Easy way to tell an E from an ES in a picture, if you can't see if its shaft drive, look at the sub-trans with the hi/lo shifter on it. If the oval shape of the sub trans is at an angle with the back side down farther and the long side not parallel to the ground then its a 200E, if the sub trans is not at an angle and parallel to the ground then its a 200ES.

The other obvious difference, the ES had reverse, the E didn't.. Otherwise they both had basically the same motor and electric start, etc.
