Questions About X's Rear Shock Settings?

Simply stated. I have a couple questions about the settings on a 83 to 85 200X rear shock.

I just swapped shocks on my Auto-X yesterday. The one I replaced had absolutely no charge in it. Fenders were about an inch off the tires. At any rate. How do settings on the dial work? Right now it's on 4. What is firmer? What is softer?
Also I'm guessing my extended swinger is going to make it feel softer?

When I take my shock in to get recharged. What info do they need? My weight? Swinger length? How firm or how soft I want it?

    Thank you in advance!

The problem is you changed the geometry of your rear suspension by extending your swingarm. The correct way if fixing this is to send your rear shock in to be rebuilt and resprung to your body weight and swingarm stretch. The swingarm stretch puts more leverage on the shock. There is schmitty's racing in California or Suspension101. The cost for rebuild and respring is around $350.00

I bought the machine with the extended swinger. I never measured, but I'd say at least +4 maybe up to +6? I honestly never measured it or a stock swinger to compare.

I was really hoping someone could tell me what the dial on the shock does.

    Uber,
I found this quote for you...hope it helps.

1.what is you rebound adjuster set at (dial on bottom of shock) you will see it if you look down where it bolts to the swingarm, and there is an arrow on lower shock above the dial to show what setting you have it on. The dial has 4 different settings. 1 would be the fastest rebound, and 4 would be slow. You would want to set it to 4 if you are doing a lot of jumping, and going over whoops, as you wouldnt want a fast rebound. For general trail riding I would recommend a 2 or 3. I dont know what 1 would be used for..

    Awesome ScreaminRed!

That's exactly what I wanted to know! I'll have to dial it down to 2 and give it a shot.
