Honda 250 es 27 tires?

New to three wheeling and bought a big red 250, I'm thinkn about 27x12x12 tires in the rear and 26x8x12 in he front with stock suspension. Any thoughts on handling? Will it be dangerous to drive with tires that big? Does it mater if the front tire is smaller?

If you are a bug guy like me I suggest you keep to 26" rear tires or less..

Since bigger tires change your drive ratios it puts a greater strain on clutches and engine.

I notice a significant difference between my brothers ES with 25" and mine with oversize 26"..

Hills he can power up in 3rd gear I have to keep to 2nd to prevent lugging the engine!

I've had the chance to play with a lot of tire/rim sizes on the SX and ES over time..I wouldn't do oversized 26" again, and definitely not 27"!!

As far as the smaller(width) front..it awesome how it improves the handling..highly recommended!!

what about changing the width on the rear to narrower Doug...ever done it?

One more question.. Wheel spacers? Good or bad? Do they make it safer to ride? What size would you use? Also just noticed you guys are Canadian! I used to live near gananoque Ontario i miss the snow! No snow down here in ga!

A narrower rear isn't a problem..depending on what you ride on the most.

On sand/mud you'd sink in more..a wider tire with more surface area would float more.

Spacers, I've never felt the need..the new construction of tires make the trike more stable, thus removing the need for widen the stance of the rear..plus I like riding in the Canadian shield around Algonquin park( I know you are familiar with that ) and with the narrow paths and spaces between trees I didn't want to widen the trike. Second it make it harder to turn due to the fixed rear axle..

Tire size..my preferred size is 26x12x12 rear, 26x9x12 front..

Be a rebel and play around with it..with the 12" rims on it you have lots of tire choices!

In case you haven't found them the ITP Steel 12x7, 2+5, 4/110 is a perfect replacement for the 250ES..proper spacing for the front offset and a direct bolt on..plus at about $35 each anyone can afford them.

Here's mine all tricked out!!

Usually 2PSI rear and 3-4PSI front..

Tires of different construction will have different handling qualities and pressure will play into that..play around with your tires and see what feels right.
