Picked up a 185 motor today for 20$ top end apart brand new piston. Anyways, I mainly bought it for the stator, But the Flywheel wont budge! It spins freely, i got the nut off with the impact. Seems corroded, but do i need a flywheel puller? Am i missing something?. ive also tried holding the flywheel while a friend hit the shaft with a mallet but nothing at all. Thanks to anyone who replies.

The puller helps a lot. I've never gotton one off without a puller.

Yup you need a puller 100% guaranteed. DO NOT TRY TO PRY IT OFF. They are specifically designed to wedge themselves onto the crank shaft when the nut is tightened. This is why they make flywheel pullers. It is doing EXACTLY what it should!

Back in the day I had the Honda Shop pull one for me. $10 for 2 minutes of work. I bought a puller for myself and never regretted it.

Here is another one for 13.50 free shipping http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tusk-Flywhee...#ht_1089wt_873 These M 27 x 1 will work for hunderds of bikes and any 3 wheeler flywheel that uses a big threaded type puller, from Honda to Kawasaki. Remember the threads on the big end of puller are reverse thread, so loosen is tighten. If you have it cranked TIGHT and it still wont pop, get out the propane torch and heat the flyheel around the key. Once you get it HOT after 5-10 minutes, give it a little more of a crank on the puller and she should go. I have gotten some pretty bad ones off with this method before. They were stuck so bad that one of these pullers got wrecked the first try , when a buddy just put an impact on it and pounded until it mushroomed.
