    Hello bungle

Unfortunately I can't definitively answer your question but i'll throw out a random guess that it could be a an old C AND H. Is there some specific reason you want to know?

I have to congratulate you on having the best garage i have ever seen, wow. I was a kawi r and d engineer in the 80's so am partial to those. What models are the green ones you have? I see one is a quad.

Is that powder coat or paint? Looks like powder coat, it's stellar either way!

    Thanks

They are both tecate 4's one a 87 with some nice period aftermarket parts and the other is a mint 88 which I got road
Registered and I ride most days. What does c and h stand for? I just got another 82r with a westcoast swinger . Atc's are
Getting popular in the uk and prices are goin up

    Hello

Thanks for the info. I actually never asked them what it stood for, I talked to them occasionally back in the day, big name brand then, high quality stuff, so is westcoast. They are the only ones I knew of that put a reinforcement plate along the bottom like that.

Licensed for the street that's wild, never happen over here.

What do you think of the quads? Unfortunately I highly modified one of the prototypes into a high perf suzuki quad killer but for some unknown reason kawi decided to go with the shorter, narrower, lower performing recreational model instead.

I was racing pro 3 and 4 wheeler back then but kawi wouldn't let me race my modified version because they didn't want to have to explain why I had one but they decided not to build it. They didn't want people asking the dealers for a vehicle that didn't exist, lol. Since it would have been the only one at the races because the enduro model is unraceable it would have been photoed in every atv magazine at the time causing them a bit if embarrassment. Maybe it would have forced them to build it.

    Hello colton

Nope, good try though, c and h, before your time. Calfab is another however. Have you seen one exactly like his and know what it is? Calfab's were aluminum here's a photo of a tecate with one below. scroll down past the red bikes.

Really like the older quads and especially the tecate 4's I have had 6 now but always kept the the same one since I was 16. Managed to find some nice Aftermarket parts +2 arms etc here in the uk
They are so hard to get parts. They are a lot of fun on the road just got to get them as wide as possible. I think if kawasaki made them wider and lower from the factory they would be a contender for the trx's
Have you still got the machine you built

    HELLO

NO It belonged to kawi and they couldn't release a non production bike to anyone. They made very sure I wouldn't race it. Believe me I tried several times just to annoy them after what they did. I would have done anything it would have taken to make sure it would have won a race so it would be plastered everywhere in every mag. I would have let jimmy white chris white or donnie luce race it if i had to just to win. I was very good on extremely rough tracks unfortunately most all the races were on smooth tracks except for carlsbad.

My prototype was wider and longer as i mentioned I don't remember if it was lower than the production but it was same or slightly lower than the suzuki.

They also asked me to make a quad using t3 parts which i did and even it was better than the production enduro model.

Sweet must of been cool to make a quad that is better that the factory racers. They have just brought out a evo quad and
Atc race series here in the uk will hopefully be entering the tecate and 82r. Did kawasaki destroy there machines or are they tucked away? I have a magazine article about a man who brought tecate 4's into the uk and put a kx500 engine's in and
Made them really wide to compete with the lt 500. He called it a tecate King Kong

Hello just thought you arm might be a c and j also they were similar styles.

Yes it was fun but it was my job at kawi for several years so i was only in competition with my self since i was in charge of all atv development in the us. they marketed the t4 as a high perf model but it was really an enduro as i mentioned. it handled so badly on the rough tracks no one at kawi us would test it. This is the only time japan who owned us tried to compete with me on a project, it was very strange, all the us guys were dumbfounded because japan was paying us to develop for the us market. they had no clue what the us riders wanted in a quad. i even hired the fastest guy in the country at the time to give an unbiased opinion and he was afraid of the japanese version. he was racing a suzuki at the time and his laps were fastest on mine, i was going to hire him to race for us but when he saw they built the enduro version instead he wisely backed out. the 86/87 t3 is actually the model i did the most engineering on. the proto was another unacceptable model, another enduro type. i was happy to be vindicated when my version became their best selling atv ever. once it hit the market there was a ton more of them at the races. you can easily see this in any youtube race from that era.

There was some sort of changing of the guard in japan at the time and the new guy over there apparently wanted to flex his muscles and go against everything japan kawi was doing up to that point.

I personally destroyed many of the prototype motorcycles and drive them to the xcrap yard and get .06 a pound for them, nice huh? Strangely they never destroyed a single atv the entire time i was there, never asked them why. had a nice museum going.

They still have a new h2 750 in a crate they had to save for legal purposes, probably worth $60k now or more. They wouldn't give me that one either, lol.

i dont know any history on rigs, swingarms etc, but it does look sick, but i have a funny feeling that its really short, i think you should try it, and if its to much of a wheelie machine, then get a stock, or a modfied one to be longer

Definitely not a CalFab. Post some better pics and I will thumb through a few of my older mags and find the answer. I have a thought in mind, but want to confirm it first.

It looks like a Westcoast that has been reinforced. I will do some additional looking tonight if I get a chance.

Hi, I have an 82 250r that I race in the evo series, do you have any aftermarket parts for sale , as they are really hard to find over here? Pics look good, are you going to get involved with the racing ? Great to get more trikes out there .
