Recommend racing rims for me - 250R flat track

    Hi all,

I have a set of Hoosier tires for flat track racing, and I am looking for recommendations for rims for them.
The tires are 18.5 x 8.0 - 10 and will be the rears for my flat track / TT 250R.

I have done some searching, but I am not quite sure what I need to buy to properly fit these tires.
    Can you guys recommend:

Size of rim I will need (it's 250R, so 4x110)
    Any preferred manufacturers or styles
Recommended source to buy (good prices, fast shipping, availability being the factors).

This race is in 2 weeks, so I need something quick.
Thanks in advance folks - happy triking!

    You can use these...

    Or

I just bought a set of these for my 16.0 rear hoosiers....

Either will work. I prefer the beadlocks myself.

    I don't think those will work. Those rims are 8x8. I think I need a 10" wheel with 8" width? or is it 10 x 9?

Thanks for responding, guys. I seem to be on the right track now.

RockyMountainATC has 10x8 wheels on 4/110 from ITP and Douglas.
They are .190 thickness - I think those are the nice sturdy ones.

    4/110 ITP .190 T-9 Pro Series Wheel 10X8 3.0 + 5.0 Polished

    4/110 Douglas .190 Wheel 10X8 3.0 + 5.0

Any advantages to one brand over the other? They seem pretty identical.

If you wonder why I am asking so many questions, it is because I have a special knack for buying the exact wrong rims and tires every time.

    So go here: http://www.hoosiertire.com/specmisc.htm

Look at the recommended rim for your tire. I am assuming you purchased item number 16275. Your recommended wheel is an 8" and your section width is an 8". The wheels I recommended will work just fine.

If still in doubt, call hoosier and they will recommend the perfect wheel for your tire.

Guys pretty sure he has 10 inch tires Soooo he needs a 10 inch diameter wheel 8 inches wide. Not a 8 inch diameter wheel.

Xowner is correct. Your tire size is 18.5 X 8 - 10. 18.5" tall tire x 8" wide (tread) on a 10" diameter wheel. Your wheel can be either 10X8 or 10X9 - either will work. 10" diameter X 8" or 9" wide. Peepers - when confused - just think about your truck tires 31 X 10.50 - 15 - I know you know what that means.

I have my ice tires mounted on micro sprint 10X10 wheels, and my 18 X 11 - 10 Fast trekkers barely fit. It makes them even lower profile and wider. I don;t think ATV wheels come in 10 X 10 - but I could be wrong.

    Thanks again everyone.
I actually did call Hoosier. I must say, their phone support is fast, courteous, and knowledgeable.
The man on the phone said 10 inch diameter, 8 inches wide.

He even gave me some anecdotes about a couple EDT racers running Hoosiers and finding that 9" wide rims made them "too loose in corners", so they recommend 8".
Time to drop the cash on rims.

**Stay tuned for my next thread. I am starting my 400X build soon and will have lots of questions and need lots of advice from the experts at 3WW.**
