Angle Grinders Made In The USA

I've been in the market for a 4 1/2" angle grinder to replace one that was stolen out of my garage some time ago. I don't know if everyone is aware, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to find a Made In The USA grinder anymore. All of the big name manufacturers (Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc)have moved their operations overseas, mainly to China. You may not agree but I find that pretty disheartening. It's not just limited to grinders, either. It's pretty much any power tool.

Anyways, I said screw it and started looking for a decent, used Made In The USA angle grinder. The problem I kept encountering, however, is just about everyone who listed angle grinders for sale never listed the model numbers. When I would contact them and ask for the model number and where it said it was made on the grinder tag, I usually got a reply with the model number but, also, that it didn't say anything on the tag about where it was made. I'm pretty much talking about Milwaukee grinders here.

Anyways again, I decided to email Milwaukee and ask them which of their grinder models were still made in the USA before they moved all of their operations over to China. They emailed me back, surprisingly, with a list. I figured I'd share it in case anyone feels the same about this as I do. I know it's a sign of the times, but it's really starting to suck when you can't even find one power tool still Made In The USA.

Here's the list of American made Angle Grinder model numbers from Milwaukee tools:

6154-20
6155-20
6156-20
6151
6149-20

6141
6140-6

These are ALL defunct, not made anymore. The last angle grinder Milwaukee made that was made in the USA was the 4 1/2" 6140-6.

I think these are varying sizes of grinders. Now drills on the other hand, that's another story again. If you come across any of these model numbers on Craigslist or elsewhere, according to Milwaukee, these are all American made. If anyone knows different, please chime in.

I wanted a usa tv and discovered that to say made in usa or country of origin
stickers require that a certain percentage, maybe greater than 50%? idk
is what they consider 'made in'

as in made in china with taiwan parts. ...some of the best computer combinations.

Toyota made in usa by american workers and I guess BMW now too.

Buy American, buy Harley?
Guess where most of their parts are from.

Prob best to find older stuff at garage sales and fix 'em up if parts are still avail.

i have had a skil grinder 4 1/2 inch bought at walmart abotu 40 bucks and i have left itoutsid einthe rain, in flooded tool boxes , drope doff roofs and continualy abused and it still kicks liek the day it was new, even took my knuckles off with it one time lol if i rember corectly that was made int he usa but this was 10 years ago.

Harley's had plenty of Made In Japan parts in them back in the 1970's and 1980's. The entire front ends were Made In Japan. I liked Japanese stuff for the most part. They made killer electronics. Their tools sucked, though. I can't think of ANYTHING of good quality from China. Nothing.

As far as computers. I don't know about that. When I look for electronic components like capacitors and resistors to replace worn out components in vintage electronic gear, the best parts still come from Japan and USA (when you can find them). Germany makes some good stuff, too.

Oh yeah, obviously, the Japanese made some great motorcycles. And trikes.

I have a Craftsman angle grinder.... but it's a newer one so of course it's made in China like the rest of em

go buy a cheap grindder and a good estwing thier made in illinois so when the grinder shits out you can get your frusterations out on it with a quality ! a good 21 oz framer has always served me well from home defence to puttin the ex in place it does it all lol
