    1969 Honda SL 90

A co-worker saw the ATC70 I am cleaning up and mentioned he has some old Honda dirt bike. He did not want to sell it, but I talked him into cleaning it up and getting it running again. Got it last night and have it torn down for a nice come up to its former glory.

I had a 1966 S-90 and can't recall what all years the other kids in the neighbor hood had but there was 5 of us w/Super 90's running all over the place.
I was 10 years old when I got mine, it took me many miles along the river + train tracks and where ever I wanted to venture.
Looking forward to following the refurbish postings.

Mr. Clean, Do you realize what you have there? That engine, plus some other earlier Honda 90 engines, are where the parts come from for the hi/lo box elimination parts for the hopped up atc90s. What you should seriously see about doing. Split the cases and go through the engine. Install a stroker crank, install a big bore piston, install a nice cam with a little bit of head work and make a really neat little hot rod out of that bike. From all outward appearances it would be stock, and then zoom.

Yes!!! I would love to massage the motor on this one!! Actually I would love to shank the motor for my A+......however not being "mine" all I can do is make it sweet!! If I can source the parts for reasonable prices I will certainly upgrade!!

Racked and stacked, parts ready for refurb.

Don't use the sl90 engine for the A+, either use an xr or xl70 engine or get you a nice little lifan 125 or larger. I have an old custom straight pipe that would work well on that bike if you hopped it up. The pipe has an adjustable rear flap for backpressure but no muffler whatsoever! LOL The pipe doesn't fit an atc frame very well and was originally on an old sl or s90. This bike has so much potential. Metal Flake paint job. Engine side plates out of polished stainless steel. Stainless steel twisted spokes and modern radial tires. Stroked and punched out engine. Custom exhaust. You could have so much fun with this rebuild.

    So nice.
Don't see a lot of SLs around - mostly Trail 90s.

Does Mrs. Clean know you are putting bike parts on her wooden table?

Yes, Mrs. Clean is a saint!! She only allows parts on the table if they have been Mr. Cleaned first.

I've got a bunch of SL70s & XL70s. I've been keeping my eye out for an SL90 for a long time and haven't even come across one. Cool bike.

    Progress Pics:

Finally got around to working on this project. Unfortunately the owner has not given me much of a budget to work with.

Got some new tires mounted on the rims, and got it to a rolling chassis.
