Who has an electric impact wrench likes/dislikes

Well it looks like I am going to get an impact wrench, where should I go, Sears, Lowes, etc. How much should I expect to pay for a decent one?

I had an electric impact (battery operated) it worked pretty good, I paid around 200 bucks for it. But they very in price, just have to check around to find the best deal.

we have one at work, our boss bought it when the air compresser flew apart, not as much torque as the air power 1/2 drive, but for what it was it worked ok,i think it would do most everything on our 3 wheelers...oh yea it was dewalt? i think.it was yellow anyway, unsure of price.honestly,i consider it a must have if you dont have a quality air impact gun,or a compressor....

I bought a kit with every air tool you need pretty much from Sams club. $100.00, and they have been pretty durable so far, although I haven't used it a lot. If you want the best get an Ingersol Rand inpact or another from a reputable tool company, I doubt with hard regular use my cheep-o's would last very long.

I have a sears craftsman, it works good, I would say go with that over the compressor, impact gun, etc for occasional use. for frequent use definety get the air.

They range about $35-50 on ebay. I like good tools when they get used a lot, but dont mind going cheapo on something I use once a month.

here is the one that I got, http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=45252. It works fine the only thing is that I have already lost the little ball that holds on the socket but that is not to big of a deal. I use it for the changing car tires and some on the three wheeler, mainly getting of the clutches.

    Impact

I have a Black and Becker BullDawg. I think it was around $80. I never used it on my trike, but I can drive 1/2" x 6" lags into a microlam or sillplate without stopping. It is a half inch drive. I know Snap-on has a newer 14.4 volt impact that would be nice but very pricey. Just wondering, but there aren't that many spots a big impact would work on a trike is there? Besides tires and motor mounts.

I love my battery impact but its so big that it wont fit anywere. I do have a impact that I can fit into small places a little better than the battery one but its for an air compresser

If you go battery make sure you get two batterys, it realy sucks when the battery dies and you're right in the middle of somthing

    makita

my buddy is an ase certified mechanic and has a makita. it is small and has awesome power! i think it was $180, but i use it all the time helping him work on cars and i love it! you'll need the air impact to bust the really stubborn bolts, but the makita is very powerful, yet small and very convenient, my two cents.
that's my boy! a definite future trike rider!

I am a professional auto tech. , and I have had the Snap-On 14.4 volt cordless impact for over a year. Use the crap out of it!! It is 3/8th's inch drive, and has enough power to rorate truck tires no problem. I couldn't imagine working without it now though. It was pretty expensive though. (about 300$)

I went pricing impact wrenches tonight, and all I could find were craftsman wrenches. That would be fine except it's $179. I thought I would look at pneumatic ones, and I think I found a hell of a deal at lowes. For $279 you can get a 5hp 20gallon air compressor, that comes with a spray gun, brad/nail gun, 1/2 inch impact driver, 10 feet of hose, couplings, and other assorted stuff. It is made by a company called Iron Man (I think), does this sound like a good deal?
