    Question 250R FlyWheel Key Size

Does anyone know the size of the flywheel key for my 1985 Honda ATC 250R? Mines sheared and I need a new one. Thanks.

go and get the right part from honda, its like $3. You want to mess with the timing of the motor and cause dentionation or pre-mature firing that will cost you alot more?

alright???? i bought them for about 6 3 wheelers already..... STILL running to this day since they cannont be any different if they fit properly so its impossible to throw off timing. THINK about it

The 250R ones are an oddball size I've not been able to locate a replacement for. I've searched through mcMaster Carr and other industrial suppliers. OEM is the only ones I've been able to locate.

there is something that you are doing or an issue w/ your motor why they are breaking. My friend had them break a few times, flywheel wasn't put on tight enough. I put it on w/ air impact and it didn't break one for close to a year(sadly his bike was stolen not long after). Another issue can be main bearings that need to be replaced, vibration from the woobling crankshaft will vibrate the nut loose. Find the problem why its coming loose. A rare cause would be a worn taper in the flywheel or crankshaft.

I second death man, if it's not tight enough they shear. That's why there is a puller made to take it apart!!
