That looks like it would be close and would be a cool mod I would like to know if that would work too so hope fully we get some answers, I am gonna go look at my mount spots on my 200x engine that is already out of the frame but I think that is a direct bolt in from the looks of it and the description

use the air box for a battery and have your airfilter on your carb, It would be even cooler if it was 2 stroke

i have a atc 200x 85 with a 230(229,6)cc lifan engine, the 171fmm model with a 26mm mikuni and a high revolution box. and k&n filter ...and it is electric start too! running good so far,no problems at all. the engine and the wire ,cdi rectifire, selenoid, spark plug, coil and all... for 520$ can. the carb 100$can.the 520 sprocket of the atc and xr fit, the carb also fit. in fact,it bolts right on! i think the engine is a replica of a crf230f . The engine is based on the honda cj model. The battery is in the air box, and the air filter is straight on the carb. long live to atc !

Yes, it's reliable and fast with all the modifications i've made. I don't know if it would be without that, though. I'm doing wheelies in first, second and third only with the throttle.

Is that really 250cc? I have the 200cc OHV version in one of my 84x's. The one in your link looks taller - bigger space between cylinder and head. I could just be seeing things, though. Call Hooper and ask them. It would be worth checking the location of the upper mount and height of the engine.

You lose the brake pedal mount. I used a 350x pedal on mine.

I had to trim part of the sprocket cover and make room on one of the crossmembers to clear the drain plug.

I welded on piece of sheet metal and some nuts to hold a 400ex battery tray.

I made my own wiring harness because my X did not come with one. It's pretty cool - the battery powers the lights and starter but the engine will run without it if you can push start it.

I love this engine - I paid $180 for a complete dirt bike donor.

oh yeah and sand or mud riding will eat the rings out of these engines fast. we went through a set of rings after 8-10 rides of it in a quad. the continous high revs are not its friend.
