250sx carb swap?

I have a chance to grab a 85 250sx for 100 bucks it is missing a battery and carb. I have a battery in my 82 200e that should work, right? About the carb I have a 200e,s,m,x years from 82-86 so my question is can i through any of these carbs on the 85 250sx and if so would it matter which one? I was thinking if any maybe the 200x carb. I'm suppose to pick it up tomorrow any help would be great. Thank you.

Many batteries fit the SX, but many don't have the proper cold cranking amps and won't last.

Just a 12BS may or may not be the correct battery; It may start it but both the ES and SX require certain batteries and they run about 50$.

You can put your jets in a 350X carb, but you lose the cable mounted choke. The best bet is the Keihin 08 model carb that starts in the cold just fine. The 85 may have had an 03 Keihin ( I forget) but they need a larger starter jet........

Not to be a miser but just checked a couple prices for that keihin 08 over 220 dollars is there a cheaper opt, at least until I know if the thing will run?

Ya don't need a NEW one! Your looking at about 60$, sometimes with a cable and throttle......

I have a rebuilt 350X carb if you are interested. It literally has ~5 minutes of run time on it and was just rebuilt in October. I wanted to make sure my 350X ran and shifted etc.. before I pulled it apart for my build. I am going with a 400EX carb instead. PM me if you are interested.

P.S. When I had it apart I was thinking it was pretty similar to my 250SX carb, I think you can swap over the cable choke from a 250sx if you wanted to.

So I did buy the 250sx it looks a little rougher than I first thought but still think I did alright. Will post pics this weekend. Hoping to find me a carb w/out going over 50 but not having too much luck yet. Besides the Keihin 08 are there other models that will fit? Will any 27mm carb work?

Keihin 08 means 86/87 250SX. 350X fits but thats about it.

Rebuild kits alone are 20-30$ shipped, plus someones time so get off your wallet
