i've been running castrol GTX 10w30 for years and never had a single oil related problem.. But, get ready cause this is one of those "my oil is better than yours" threads.. Hopefully not, my vote is for castrol 10w30 or the genuine honda 4 stroke oil! Can't go wrong with either IMHO..

The best oils to use in your machines are HONDA GN4 10w40 oils, you can get them at Honda ATV dealership. I always buy them and that's is best stuffs in mine machines and they are well protected and runs strongs. You must use that Honda GN4 oils because those Honda ATVs they are all wet clutches, were spec. for motorcycle, ATVs uses.

I like AMSOIL Synthetic 10w40 myself..

But it's as much about the filter..OEM only. Tried the cheapos, but the oil gets dirty much faster...

OK, now everybody wait for it...WAIT FOR IT!! The 'F' bomb is gonna go off any time now!!

Mike, tell me you didn't seriously start a thread on oil...

Well, I just tried to search out threads on oil so I could bombard this turd of a thread with a bunch of results obtained from a simple search. Turns out the "new and improved" search feature seems to have taken a dump. What the heck happened to the search?

Choosing a good motor oil is like making an important decision. It requires using your facking brain.

Buy nice, new oil and keep it topped off. Change it regularly. Talk to the parts guy at your local powersports dealer. You'll do just fine.

I agree with Doug about filters. There is some C R A P out there. When it comes to oil I always use the genuine, certified, API, ASTM, ISO 10,000,000 certified slippery kind.

Run what makes you sleep soundly at night. Oil has to meet certain standards before it can go out to the customer, so in theory the cheap $3 bottle of Bargain Brand is the same quality as a top end brand. I personally have had good luck using Valvoline Wet Clutch ATV oils and Honda HP4.

Don't need an air filter but oil quality is a concern. Hmmm

You do know I was talking about oil filters not air right..though a good quality air filter is important.

However not all the trikes have a replaceable filter. 250cc and 350cc in the Honda only..all the 200 and smaller have a screen that you clean and reinstall.
