    honda 200 3 wheeler-is it worth it?

I have the chance to buy a 200 three wheeler for $150. Not sure the year, must be an S model. It only has the front shocks. Has low/high transmission and no reverse. Engine is suppose to run good but smokes. Front fork is also bent a little. I was told plastic is decent. Now, I am wondering if I should even go check it out. Is it worth it for that price? The fork is no big deal, I know where several are. Any advice on this?

At $150 it's definitely worth a look..take your little mental calulator with you.

Add up what you think it will cost you to fix all that is wrong, then see what is beside the equal sign.

Sight unseen it would be impossible to tell you how good/bad a deal it was..tires good, brakes work, pull start ok, gears shift, seat ok, chain/sprocket ok..all things to check.

    If it's a 200 with hi/lo, it's an old Big Red (200e)

Talked to them again. It's chain drive has electric start, low/high and front and back racks. Plastic is suppose to be good and gas tank as well. They said brakes don't work. If I do take it, what can I expect to pay for new.rings installed?

Yes, a 200E Big Red, if it has, electric and pull start, chain drive, front and rear racks, high/low transfer case.

I got it this evening, runs good but does smoke. High/low works. While looking on Craigslist I ran across a 85 250 big red. Asking price was 300, got it for 230! It runs great, reverse and lights work. Only thing is it has some homemade back fenders. Other than that its in decent shape. Had one of these when I was younger, and finally sold it after 20 years. The memories came back tonight when I took it for a spin.

i don't know about down there but the cheapest place i seen local to me is $200-250 @ $25 Per Hour (8-10 Hours) to do a Head gasket, same price to do rings also and includes Carb Clean and Tuneup ($75, 3 Hours if only thing done). At Dealer I was quoted $600 @ $75 Per Hour (8 Hours) Best case scenario if i bring bike in with engine in it and if everything goes smooth, $225 (3 Hours) if i just bring the engine in for a Head Gasket Replacement.
Also, IIRC the price i was quoted for Pistion rings for dealer was line $39 or $49, i think it was $39 but i'm not to sure. Prices is in Canadian BTW. i was asking around a bit because my brothers 83 200E Big Red Needs Rings although lately it looks like it will be a parts bike for the 84 200M and my 83 200E Big Red unless we win the lottery or get out of debt.
