    Spark plug question

I decided to try a Champion spark plug in my 200es instead of an NGK no real reason just wanted to see if it made any difference. So I cross referenced the DR8ES-L number to Champion numbers and the number was RA8HC so I went and bought one. Now I got it home and the threaded threaded part is slightly longer. So before I wreck something has anyone ever used this spark plug in their trike? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

My 200 had that Champion plug in it when I bought it and didn't have any trouble when I was cranking and didn't have any noise, etc., but I ended up switching to an E3 before I started it, and after that switch it fired right up.
However, if you're nervous about it, don't run it! It's way better to go back for the right sized plug than risk ruining a good motor! Better a $5 mistake than a triple digit mistake!

In my experience with champion plugs in Honda's , they go bad for no reason , no fouled just lost spark . NGK is the only way to go IMO .

Champions have no business in atv's. they're great for tractors?? But none of my 100's of sleds or bikes over the years have liked them. Just my experience.

hmm I have an 84 200 es and I don't use a long in mine so am just curious if you are starting with the wrong plug for referencing to begin with or has mine had the wrong plug since I got it, also I have been running a D7EA in mine not a DR8ES-L

DR8ES-L is what the manual calls for on the 200ES. I agree, NGK all the way. Don't care for the Chanmpions.......

ok so then I am running the wrong plug in mine, as mine doesn't say long or short it is just the normal ngk plug. I don't mind the champions, but when all of your hondas burn alot of oil, plugs foul out really fast, I am waiting for some nicer weather to start my tear downs

I've run champion and NGK in my 200. I've found that Champion plugs resist fouling better than NGK, and if they do go bad, I can clean a champion and it'll work again, once and NGK plug fouls, it's pretty much done... Also, I've been using Champion number RA6HC.
