VIDEO!! Drilling triple ports in a cylinder - another video on page 3

I started porting my cylinder couple nights ago. Went to my brothers house and had him drill the triple ports first. We decided everyone needs to see how we do this.

its a feeble attempt to replicate the 10 port design in the modern 250r cylinder,,,

we actualy use a 12 port design, last time i made small boyesen, this time, i'm going to weld up the sides near the intake(next to the case studs) and have massive ports there.

What the triple port exhaust does is: releases all the pressure from combustion stroke at once. This creates a very strong vacuum behind it, drawing a much larger air/fuel mixture. Inturn, a lot is lost into the exhaust pipe. Now the pipe uses sound waves and stuffs alot of that lost into the pipe, back in the cylinder. If you take a look at all the high reving 2 strokes, they have triples/bridged exhaust ports.

I didn't work much on the triple today, But i'll get some pictures and post them in my other thread about yt175 porting. And no, you cant just go drill triples into any cylinder, you need to get the port durations just right

hmm?? i don't do anything to wrist pin, it's all stock. I mod the piston a hair, only on the ports on it. You can't do to much, they get weak fast.

    Is this the same cylinder?
    http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...g-Reed-upgrade
If so the sub ports sure are awfuly close to the transfers.. and appear to be at different heights.. especially when viewed from the tunnel.. The drill gouges in the deck are a real nice touch. Truly some of the worst porting i've seen on the web..

Good God, man. Take that Dremel and lock it in a safe and throw the key away! A Dremel has never been a porting tool (not enough power, doesn't use 1/4 shank) nor will it ever be. The proper tools for porting are expensive but will be paid for in about 4 professional port jobs. I admire the effort you put into doing this and tenacity (holy hell, 20 hours on that YT cylinder!) but please practice on junk cylinders with the proper tools and proper understanding of 2-stroke porting before you castrate any more decent cylinders.

This isn't my first rodeo, i know exactly what i am doing. No, the dremel isn't the professional tool. But it gets the job done. I understand that you don't understand how the ports effect the performance, i do. I've done my research, my trial and error, and now another cylinder. When i finish this 1 up, youll see why I'm doing this. I've also got another video for you guys, drilling boyesen ports.

That is from the same cylinder, not the finished product though. I lost the finished product. The holes you see in those pictures are from the begining. You don't want to start drilling to the edge of where you plan on putting your port, you want to start in the middle and work your way out. That was also 1 of my trial and errors :-p Why else would i be porting a 2nd 1? Don't ge tme wrong, that thing runs like a bat out of hell, faster than any 175 i've seen yet, WAY faster without any bottom end being lost. But that was a trial and error(had it resurfaced on top btw). You'll notice in the video, we used an old head gasket for that reason.

You can talk trash all you want, but the truth will still stand. I'll know the physics and understand how the ports work and how they effect performance. If you go over to the blaster forums, the link provided above, you can see another cylinder my brother and i have done some work on. When you decide to go fast, let me know. I'll tell you how it's done. If you have $300 to spare, and rather let the pros do it, go ahead. Porting is not for those who are scared. But if you have spare parts, why not?

Put it on a flow bench and post the results.
