    1980 Honda XL250S

Hi everyone, I have the chance to pick up a '80 XL250S for cheap; $400 to be exact. It needs an ignition key, a chain, a carb cleaning, and possibly tires but otherwise it is damn close to mint.

I was just wondering if anyone else here has an XL or had one in the past. This is going to be my gas saver/commuter bike and will rarely see dirt. Just trying to get some input before I purchace. Thanks.

It looks just like this 185 below, just a little larger and in nicer shape

Thank you. Here's a pic of the actual machine. It looks nearly the same as the 185s above.

I'm buying it not running since the owner has lost the key. I am having one cut shortly after I return home with it tomorrow so I can get started on it. What are the audiable signs of a bad rocker arm and camshaft? Any sounds that I should be concerned with?

Lastly, this may sound silly but is this the same motor Honda used on the ATC250R's? I can't remember if the 250R's had one or 2 head pipes.

I've got 1 of them xl250s, only mines a 78. It had a cracked front rim, so i bought an 1980 rim, under the impression the brakes would fit.. NOPE different brakes

They are fun to ride. Mines in rough shape but runs. Got it for $75
