Recently my cousin and I acquired this 1983 Honda 185S ATC for the awesome price of FREE. (free is always good) Right off the truck it already had the required vital signs of Spark and Compression. With a new spark plug and a sip of fuel down the jug we had life! Little did we know this was just the beginning. I took the carb off for inspection and rebuild / cleaning. The metal inside the carb was all eaten away like it was stored with water in it or something. A new zoom zoom carb off of E-bay was our plug and play answer. Currently we are in the process of doing a partial restoration; we want it to be a good looking rider. The rear rack was included, although totally broken off.
Laundry List:
- Engine seems to be in perfect shape.
- Tank is off in the pic because we were soaking the crud out of the inside. (Just finished cleaning the tank and painting with sunrise red)
- Plastics are in great shape, however someone partially painted them. (Currently wet sanding the paint off them)
- Seat is in good shape with an acceptable home recover job.
- Front tire is real good, back tires are real bad (ordered new ones from Bike Bandit for $36.25 each)
- Front break freed up, Rear foot brake works, Rear hand brake froze up. (I think it’s the cable)
- New decals ordered
- Rear rack being welded, considering painting it with rhino liner.
Thank you 3WW for all the info so far, looking forward to learning more about our new trike.
