Unhappy Carb throttle body cap problem

Ok, so i just bought a brand new OEM carb for my 1986 200s today and the original throttle body cap wont come off of the throttle cable..im not sure how to get it off because it all looks like 1 piece and the cap spins freely. The new carb kit came with a new throttle body cap and its bigger than the original. So i need to replace the old cap with the new one but i cant figure out how to detach the old cap from the throttle cable? Please help.

Here are some pics of the old cap on the throttle cable and a pic of the new cap that came with my OEM carb.

I've seen this before . Some times the carb cap and cable are one piece crimped together so if you cant get it apart it time for a new cable .

if its anything like the 185s carb... it threads on the top of the carb. unscrew it and it will pop up and is connected to the bottom of the throttle cylinder thing. compress the spring and push the cable out the bottom and slide it up and out of the throttle cylinder... a pic would help.

You will most likely have to pull the old cap off the throttle cable. If the nub at the end of the cable is too big to allow the small cap to come off, you will have to clip the throttle cable and have a new end put on.

I would suggest clipping the cable at the top of the cable by the throttle lever itself, just clip the retainer nub off, try to leave as little slack as possible. Hopefully then you can pull the cable out of the sheath and then remove the old cap. But if the old cap wont' come off the cable sheath, then you will have to probably forcefully pull it apart and maybe cut it off.

I did that on one of my Hondas. I used the inner cable from a spare bicycle brake cable that I had bought from Walmart to replace the cable from the throttle. My local motorcycle shop had me bring in the throttle, cable, and complete carb so they could put the new nub at the proper length for the throttle to operate the slide properly.
