Don't come up fpr sale at all. Indeed you should buy it and put it up as a display piece. Maybe try to get the person to just sell you the motor for cheaper.
i would jump all over that! Ask him what happened to the trike!

Yup, grab it, you'll re-coupe the money from a Tiger restorer. That way it will at least be in one of their hands to bring another Tiger back. They'll most likely pay ya back for the purchase and expenses. Good find, Maybe another Tiger will be fired up because of your spotting this.

That's a can am 250 mx motor . I heard about this from someone who was talking to this guy (seller) about buying his rotax 250 motor. Thats how the seller knew they were in TIGERS. If you have a tiger you can always track down some of these motors in the old can am bikes and a few others (aprilla mx bike)....not that rare. This one looks better than some ive seen.

Other smaller or lesser known companies, such as Tiger ATV, Franks, and Cagiva, produced racing three wheelers, but in much smaller numbers. Few of these machines are known to exist today and are highly sought by collectors.

Yep that was me LoL, the seller refused to just sell the motor and ship it, so I passed on it(I even offered him half off the $500-$550 that he was asking before for just for the motor shipped, but he still refused(I figured that I might as well find a Tiger before I'd buy it and even then who would know if I would even need the engine). That's the same guy out of morrisonville, IL that has all those honda atc parts. Also, I tried to get the guy to back track to see if the motor did come out of an ATC at one point(I couldn't tell if the side emblem said rotax or something else from the pics that he had up before), but no luck. I did let him know to keep on trying to find out what the engine was out of because it looks like the previous owner just liked to hack up frames and put in misc. engines(I wouldn't want to see a possible Tiger be a victim of this). I did mention that if he would be by the person's place that he got it from to look for anything that had Tiger written on it(plastics, gas tanks, swingarms, etc). It may just be a dead lead though (the guy that he got it from was into vintage dirtbikes and nothing else).
No Tiger parts had Tiger written on them. Tiger stickers yes, but nothing imprinted into hard parts. The closest thing would be the "Cartoon Tiger" emblem for the Tiger 80 fuel tank, which replaced the ktm emblem. Rotax 250 lc engines aren't that uncommon. Tiger fenders were ABS plastic and some fiberglass and the tanks were fiberglass, so no "plastics" that I know of. As far as Tigers being hacked up, my 500 was once hacked into being a quad and put back to a 3 wheeler by the owner before me. My 500 will never be 100%, but I like it just the same and I don't mind riding it all because it will never be perfect, but it still is rare. I'm sure there still is a Tiger or 2 out there somewhere. The more complete you find one, the better off you are. It's not like finding atc250r parts. Alot of Tiger parts are actually aftermarket parts, yet the frame parts and triple tree parts are all Tiger as well as the fenders. ABS plastic fenders not all banged up are quite rare, but there are fiberglass copies which will get and keep you riding if you don't mind them being copies. I like my fiberglass fenders on my 250 and have a set for the 500 as well, just never put them on. Best of luck with your Tiger search. Engines are easy, find yourself a frame and then you are in business. But don't think you will pick one up for $100 unless you get really lucky.
