    Questions about my new/old '86 Yamaha BW200

So I finally found a nice BW200. Now to replace a few things. Anybody know where I can get tires or a rear tail light lens? As for the tires, I can't easily find any of the original dunlops so am open to other options. What are you guys running on your BWs? Anybody gone with a 26 up front and a 24 on the rear - basically 1" taller? Any good info on retailers or places that sell parts is helpful.

Ebay is a nice source of parts and you can still get alot of parts from the dealer. I just picked up new tank and side covers and front fender and headlight surround. Not cheap, but still available. I found an aftermarket headpipe and tig welded a supertrapp universal rear muffler with the diffuser discs to that, so it's way nicer and peppier than with a stock muffler. Replaced a bunch of busted up parts with factory new as I would rather spend the money for decent parts than to just replace with slightly better junk. Tolerances between the rear swingarm is pretty tight. The closer to stock tires the better. Usually even a slight taller tire with a more aggressive tread will rub agains the inside of the swinger and the rear brake rod. Check yamah dealers for stock dunlop rears. Any tire that fits a tri z will fit a bw200 as they use the same front rim. I enjoy riding my bw200. It isn't the fastest, but it will go thorugh creeks and mud and some snow as well. Have fun. Congrats on the bw.

Thanks so much guys. I knew I'd find some experts here! Here's another question. I already got my eye on an 88 BW350. What is a fair price to pay for one that's in good shape but is in need of a restoration. All plastic is good and most everything works. It needs the typical stuff - tires, chains, grips, cables, powdercoated frame, etc. I know where one is but wonder what one of this condition is really going for? Or maybe I'll just ask "What did you guys pay for your BW350s"?

bw350s are going for over $1000 easy. I would like to find a decent runner for a grand or less. Really nice ones fetch around $2000 or more.

Trapp, if you can pick up that 350 for cheap jump all over it. As Veal said, they are worth quite a bit in running condition. They are worth more restored!

I found tires for my 1985 Yamaha BW200N at www.chaparral-racing.com
The front tire is easy to find the rear I had to do some research to find. I went with a Kenda K299 Bear Claw Aggressive Mud/Snow tire.
Front tire size is a: 25x8x12 price is $ 48.85
Rear tire size is a: 22x12x9 price is $ 55.85
    Original Rear size is: 23x12x9
    Hope this helps you out.

I had an 85 BW200 that started out has a basket case. I bought the tail light lense from Yamaha - but this was 5 or 6 years ago. It fits some other Yamaha dirt bikes, too.

It had a 25x12x9 on the back as I recall but I could easily be wrong. Ugly steel wheel for some reason.

That thing could climb a tree - it was geared very low.

    Have fun!

Well I've decided to try to sell the BW200. It's on Ebay starting 11/4/10 running thru 11/11/10 if anybody's interested. Look up Ebay item #110607526202.
