    1985 Honda 250SX vs 1985 Honda 250R!?

    alright i need some help from avid trike users;

    im new to trikes, im 17, i own a 1985 honda 250sx

im really interested in picking up a 85' 250r in good condition from a local guy.
he wants my SX, so he wants to trade his 250r for my 250sx+cash.
sounds like a good deal to me!
but my dad hates the total idea of a 2 stroke trike, they break down all the time and are expensive, money wise and Time.

so what do you all think? are 2 strokes a good choice, or should i stick with looking for a 4 stroke 350X?

Not sure where you are In Alberta, But....Depending on the Cash involved, and the shape of the 250r...its a Not bad deal...Theirs More SX's out here than R's...and the R's here go for some Stupid Money.

yeah im thinking it will be my SX + 500$ cash or so for it. he says its in great shape , and mechanically it runs good might need a tune up soon he says.
but i bought a 200X for 500$ and traded it for my SX so basically i paid 500$ for my SX! and it runs great and looks great

DO YOU THINK IT'S A FAIR TRADE??? HOW MUCH $$$?? What condition is the R in??? any pics......As far as what is better 2 or 4 strokes you'll get alot of opions here but most will tell ya to take the R and it's no differance in mantiance execpt if your lazy. 2 strokes to me are way more simple and cheaper to repair. I LOVE MY R's and won't ride anything else

tuneup is not a term used in 2 stroke language,, check the compression,, it it kicks real easy it might need a topend..

yeah i work for mininum wage and i drive a real expensive truck , so ican only really afford to have 1 trike of my own, but my dad still has to sell his 250ES and a 200E so i still have 2 4 strokes to play with

holy crap people must be a lot different where you live cause up in portland you could have the nicest sx and try to trade for a rough 250r and you would get laughed at.
the minimum for a nice 250r where i live is 1300 and one im trying to buy the guy wants 2500.

    This is my trike.
There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My trike is my best friend.
It is my life. I must master it, as I must master my life.
Without me my trike is useless.
Without my trike, I am useless.
I must roost faster than my enemy who is trying to beat me to the finish.
I must beat him before he beats me.
Before God I swear this creed.
My trike and myself are defenders of track.
We are the masters of keeping quads the losers.
So be it ... until there is no quad left.

You need to also consider what type of riding environment you have. A liquid R is a monster that will hurt you if you are not respectable to it. It does not like put-putting down a trail all day. It likes to let the wind blow. The SX is more of an all around rider. AND as stated, I would not believe a nice R + cash for any SX would be a fair trade. I would look into it a little more.

A two stroke is just like anything else. If you take care of it, it will last just as long as a four stroke. There are actually LESS moving parts to fail.
