    1984 Honda 250r

Ive done some searches and i havnt found much info on my first question. How much horsepower does a wiseco piston add to a 84 Honda 250r? is it basically just a stock replacement, or does it add more power like the 4 strokes
Also, What exactly were the changes from the 83-84 r, I notice the 84 is a few inches longer than the 83 other than that i dont know and the searches didnt come up with much

Ive been in the market for a Three wheeler, I originally was gunning for a 250 big red, but ive always wanted a 250r just usually out my price range. Im a large guy 6 foot 4 around 280, but in my search i came across an ad for a 83 250r, I called the guy up and he said it actually was a 84, He wants 700 for it, So im going to jump on it i will go look at it tommrow and most likely pick it up. Ive never owned a 2 stroke, So i dont know how the lack of torque will work with the extra weight. Anyway the guy told me it has less than 5 hours on a Wiseco piston and a fresh crank bearing, new set of turf tamers (may come off). On my old 185s, I threw in a wiseco 12:1 piston, A 200x head, 200x carb 200s bottom end and complete bottom end rebuild and the horsepower increase was massive. I just wanted to know if it does the same for the 2 strokes. I will add some pictures if i get it.

If i do get it i will be in the market for a performance exhaust and maybe a 85 carb since looking here on searches they seem to open a decent amount of power

also what carbs will fit and what would be the best for performance. Would a newer trx carb be better than a 85 or 86 atc carb. And what jets would i need to use or will it be bolt and go?

A high compression will make it rip! I would play with it as is due to the fact that 250r's are wicked fast as is. I dont like the Idea of using a super high compression piston because I dont want to be buying racing fuels every time I take it for a rip. Lots of 250r guys on here that can help with carb info im sure

As far as I can remember, the only difference between 83 and 84 was the rear shock setup. The 84 had an improved linkage setup and a different mount where it attaches to the engine and the swingarm.

    Here's a walk-around comparing an '83 model I bought for parts and my '84 model: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ1s1wYRSF4

The video clearly shows the differences in the shock and swinger.

(ignore the beginning when I call them "CR250's"... I ride dirtbikes too and made a slip of the tongue)

If you get it, the exhaust and 85/86 34mm 250r carb will make a HUGE difference.

The wiseco piston in your 250R will not increase compression at all. A 2 stroke engine gains compression from shaving the head, and there is no high compression piston for a 2 stroke, like those higher dome pistons of a four stroke. The only difference between a wiseco and the factory piston is that the wiseco is forged, and the oem is cast. The forged piston is harder material. Hope this helps.
