Removing drive shaft from 250sx transmission

So i want to get into the transmission to fix a problem I have with third gear, anyways I have been following the manual to a t, I have everything off, both side covers, cylinder, piston, starter.... and I'm ready to take the engine out of the frame to split the cases, except the manual makes no mention on how to separate the driveshaft from the transmission to do this. I dont want to just start unbolting stuff without knowing what I'm doing so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah, the sx and es drive shafts are really hard to dislodge when pulling the motor IMO.
Although the manual says to take the motor out the right side of the machine, I prefere the left side.
That allows me to lift up + forward and tip the motor out AND the whole time working the front of the drive shaft back off the spindle on motor with a screw driver.
Yep, don't take the motor area apart to get to the angle gear. Well, you know what, you are going to split the cases anyway so it might not matter ???
i have heard of folks removing the rear end so the drive shaft will drop out too ,,,
They are not easy no matter how it is done. Tight fit, heavy motor ,,,

The drive shaft is easy to remove......the SX drive shaft is extensible, mounted with a spring, use a screw drive and push on it,it's the spring that keep the shaft on the spline.

as 500x said take the screwdriver and push back on the collar where the u-joint is the shaft will collapse and slide off the final drive. and if you need any tranny or final drive parts i have all of it from a 250 shaft drive engine that had 50 hours on it.

yes you have to push the boot towards the swingarm then use a screwdriver and push the top of the driveshaft down towards the swingarm, it may take a couple of trys it can be a pain or it will go easy one of those deals. i have a ton of shaft drive stuff if you need anything
