Cleaning a carb without taking it apart is like showering with your clothes on. It just doesn't work out right.
I have never seen a carb were you could even mix up the jets, they usually all have different treads. The two screws on the side, one control mixture, the other is a throttle stop (if its like my Trail 90 carb), just turn them in until they stop gently. Counting how many turns, and set them to what they were before you took it apart. A general rule for air mixture is 1 1/2 turns out.
