    American Rock Bands

Now we all know Rock & Roll is American made. I was rappin with some buddys on Who and What is the best Rock. But with all the styles it became a hodgepodge of bands and songs. So there's been some cool music threads on here and maybe someone tune me into someone I haven't heard.
So lets hear who you think are the BEST of the BEST and a few words WHY...remember there's alot of styles....Rock...Metal....Glam....Punk...Funk...an d the Jamband......
I'll start off with a few (more later)...........
ELVIS....The King...From gospel to the Vegas Strip the man was the total package and started it all...
    Bob Dylan....America's greatest poet...
Lynyrd Skynyrd...THE BEST ROCK BAND EVER!!!!!! The true spirit of rock......Any band that BLOWS the Stones off the stage as an opening act is the SHT!!! The dual gutair sound that is oh so copied is now a standerd. And then there's Freebird. The true rock anthem of all time.
These are just my opinons and really don't mean much but lets hear yours................
    NO RAP PLEASE

Metallica is one of the top American bands ever IMHO. (Im mainly into Reload and earlier stuff). Yeah, they may be coming to the end of their run lately, and admitedly, most of their later stuff, say St. Anger and later doesnt appeal to me that much. But, they have been around a looong time, and pulled off some cool stuff like blending an orchestra with their kind of music on S@M. And after more than 25 years, they are still kickin and pack venues around the world wherever they play. I think that is noteworthy.

Another American band I think was topnotch was Pantera. If you really need an explanation, you should be slapped! LOL, JK... Too bad they will never happen again, RIP Dime....

Pantera is my favorite hands down!! I saw dime bag in a country bar ( Cody's) in kileen texas in 1993 or 94. RIP. I saw them with White Zombie some yrs back @ PNC art center maybe 1999. Can't remember

Metallica everything up to AJFA and not all songs are that good like the older stuff. Puppets & lighting, Kill Them All are great.

Megadeth the funny thing is i like more Megadeth albums old & new than metallica's new. Dave maybe a d1ck, but he is good

GNR first album every freaking song is good. Not often that happens. IMO

Ah yes, how could I forget A.I.C. I was in high school when they were big. Staley had a great voice, Cantrell's harmony with it was perfect, Great band, great songwriting. Some of the new A.I.C. stuff isnt bad, but they still wont be the same...

i would have to go with Lynyrd Skynyrd because i would have to say all their songs were hits, they did not have many bad ones, and they had everything going on right

Metallica- been around a LONG time, almost EVERYONE likes at least ONE of their songs. All of their albums have kicked ass except for St. Anger....that was a turd. Death Magnetic was a great album.

Disturbed- Just effin ROCKS. They have toured a lot of the world, and like metallica, almost everyone knows at least one disturbed song.

Bob Seeger & the Silver Bullet Band.....need more be said? Plain Ol CLASSIC!
