Dirtwheels shootout Raptor vs Banshee October 2000

Cool article from DW from about 10 years ago. Yamaha's new Raptor vs their proven Banshee. Remember this is when you could still walk into a Yamaha dealer and buy a new Banshee here in the states. It was also a time when the sport was kind of stale, and at a transition between 2 strokes and 4 strokes. The new Raptor was the start of the change imo. Yeah the 400ex came out in 99 and it was a start, but not what many people were looking for.

You can download the pdf here, or just view the images below.

id like to see the article with the modded out banshee vs the modded out rappy. a decent set of pipes, cool head, +4 timing and k&n pods makes a world of difference on a banshee. that $500 saved could get you all those mods if you buy em used and find good deals.

    long live the banshee!!!!!

I know the general agreement is to like the 2smokes...but a 700r rappy with pipes, and a programmer is nothing to sneer at. They run a LOT faster than most would be willing to give them credit for.
