    Road-legal in MO?

Does anyone happen to know what all it takes to get a 3-wheeler road-legal in Missouri? I'd like to get my tecate made up so I can take it to work. Haha. If you know about requirements in other states, let me know in case they share regulations with MO. Thanks,
    Zach

there was a guy here in MO that made a YZ450-F dirt bike into a trike, and made it road legal, do a search (he posted on this site) and you should find the info

The bike he is referring to was originally a street legal dual sport bike - that is how he did it. Still a bike - just a modified bike. I think you will find it will not be possible to make it street legal as the title most likely says - "For Off-Road Use Only".

BTW - Crazy Flights was the bike owners name to help your search.

In most states you can get the offroad use only marker off the title with a simple inspection, form and retitle fee. the biggest issue you will have is if they qualify a three wheeler as an ATV instead of a motorcycle. so check to make sure your state has motorcycles classified with three or less wheels. If there is an issue with for offroad use on the title. then you can always transfer it to me in texas and then when it is transfered to you it will be gone. I have done searches and they are street legaling CR, KX, YZ's without a problem in MO so the three wheeler will not be an issue. What will be a problem is getting the local dmv to work with you. So in other words, dont tell them it is a three wheeler. just say motorcycle.

Search the dirt bike forums and you will find tons of info. Remember if your state says a motorcycle has 3 or less wheels, then it follows the same rules as a motorcycle. I had a nifty guide but cant find it. this one is almost as good and will tell you the requirements for your state.

That would have been my only concern. That, and I don't have titles for any of my 3 wheelers.

I know here in MA and most states, you need lights/headlight, tail light/brake lights, blinkers, horn, and at least one mirror. And also, a motorcycle can be 3 wheels as trikes/sidecars on bikes are legal.

If you are in a state where offroad only is difficult to remove then you are better off if you can get a title for them. If you are confident you can then outfit the bike, get your safety inspection, fill out all the title work paperwork and you should be good to go.

On the 200x i have everything done except the green inspection sheet ( which i have to complete the bike to get ) and then i would be ready to go. I also have helped a few others in Arizona, cali, illinois and florida get theres done but i think only one is complete.

another thing i would like to remind you of, a 3 wheeler handles awful on the street. Thats why i have lost interest. It is cool but on the 200x i have about $300 and about another $4-500 to go. To me it is not worth it for a novelty item. Cause honestly, i wouldnt ride it on the street. I would take another one of my toys. lol
I just wanted to say " hey, i have a street legal three wheeler ".

another kicker is the lights and horn must work without the engine running. So you will need to run a battery.

speaking of, i am looking for a xr200 wiring harness or a brake light switch, brakelight, license plate holder with light and a horn. i can wire things up myself

MO is one of the easiest states to lisence off road titled motorcycles for street use, but its still not that easy. The lights and turnsignals wont be too much of a problem, just rob them off of an enduro may have to have a battery. You will also need a horn and one mirror dont remember which side it has to be on. Also the solid rear axle will be another deal to deal with, and will also make it tricky to turn on pavement especially at higher speeds.

I actually have several 3-wheelers I wouldn't mind driving on road. It's more to run to the store than take a roadtrip. haha. I may consult a local motorcycle inspection shop during my free-time tomorrow... Thanks guys.
