It will surprise you how fast these 90s are when tricked out . Its much faster than a stock 185 , 200s , m, or even an x . Will pull a wheelie in all gears . Motor has a 61mm Helm and son stroker and 61mm H&S high compression piston = 180cc . Star burst cylinder and bottom engine cases were machined to accept the cylinders extra large size sleeve . Head Ported and polished , extra large valves . K&H roller bearing HP cam I think a 96 grind . BAPP long manifold , 26mm carb . BAPP case breather . JSC pipe , cut out sprocket cover . SL/CL90 tranny

Finally got some time to tinker with the sprint . Installed the twist throttle , lowered the front forks an inch and install new grips . I had this NOS 1979 atc110 tank on the shelf and tryied it on the sprint just for the heck of it and I think it looks pretty good . What yah think ?

Oh yeah, that is looking good. The idea for flattracking is low. This must be a TT or mx type of trike. Do you have any oldschool solid front ends? I have a chromoly 2 axle position front end that I forget the name of and a steel 2 axle postion, both in chrome. I sold a rutt ryder front end that I had along with a frame and some other parts to a board member on here. I think he is assembling that trike now. I just picked up an oldschool seat with the non-vinyl top, very neat. I think I'll save that for my extra-wide fiberglass fenders to go with my rd350 powered suspension trike that I also have the 81 250r front end for. You have to get that early tank painted and those nos honda emblems on there. I bet that will be really sweet. Get some pics of of those other frames that haven't been assembled yet.

I have 2 chrome solid front ends for the atc90s that are aftermarket but nothing with the adjustable axle . I do have a finishline atc90 front suspension kit That im saving for another project one of these days , it has smaller fork tubes and a different style tripple clamps than the others . The frames are in my loft and will take some pics soon . The seat sounds neat I would like to see a pic when you get a chance .

Made some real progress this weekend on the 180 . Installed the coil and wiring harness . Hooked up the fuel line and she cranked up on the 3rd pull . A little fine tuning of the carb and this thing really rips and sounds more like a 200x than a atc90 very deep and throaty sounding . The auto clutch was slipping a bit so I decided to put the sl90 manual clutch set up I had on the shelf and what a job that was . Had to trim the H&S cylinder because the clutch arm wouldn't pivot by the extra large fins also the shifter shafts are different so you have to cut the atc shaft to fit the sl90 clutch cover and that was a major pain . The sl clutch basket is a manual type so all the sl parts are used instead of the atc90 auto clutch . Still need to install the dead man switch and a few other odds and ends but she is just about done .

Got a little more done on the sprint . I vented the valve tappet at the head with a brass 90 and put a tee at the BAPP vented dip stick so it should breathe pretty good without busting any gaskets or seals now . I also picked up a NOS MTC aftermarket racing axle :w00t: for a atc90 today so I think I will put it in this build .

Thanks . Has taken me years of collecting parts to put this together and almost all of the trike is original old school 1970s early 80s aftermarket racing atc90 parts .

Decided to take off the 42 rear sprocket and go to a 38 because it would shift threw all 4 gears in a matter of seconds and the 38 seems much better . I also installed the NOS MTC racing axle and MTC racing rear bearing carrier both are very heavy duty .

I was just looking through your thread again today and this trike is really hot. I've been looking for one of those ribbed recoil housings for awhile now, very nice indeed. I can't imagine where you scammed a nos HD 90 axle from? Anymore up for grabs? LOL When are you going to get an oil cooler on there? Some sweet accent striping would really set your trike off too, even though it looks super clean the way it is. I see you are also plagued by the same problem that I am, the rear brake pedal. I was thinking of modding a rear brake pedal to get rid of that pivot on there to make the whole assembly much cleaner looking. Your bike inspires me to make a "JC Whitney" special. You know a trike with all the aftermarket stuff I have just to put it all on one trike. Wheels, frame, accessories etc.

I am seriously thinking of switching frames with the Dickson rear suspension frame I just got . The reason for this is I need a early motor that will fit in Dickson frame . I tried a 83 110 motor and the sub tranny is to wide and wont fit in the frame by the bottom motor mount , its about 1 inch to wide . I believe all the CDI 110 motors are wider at the Hi / low box compared to the pre 81 models ?

I came across that MTC axle a while back and really paid way to much for it but just couldn't resist , it probably weighs about half the weight of the stocker too.

I wish I had another ribbed recoil cover for ya sorry .:beer

I have an oil cooler for this trike but seriously it doesn't run hot at all but I guess the extra oil capacity would be a plus :wondering .

Sooner or later I'll be getting a suspension frame. I'm really just waiting on getting the deal finalized and it arriving. I can't believe that you just haven't picked you up a cl90 engine yet and just swtiched everything over. No hi/lo clutch and you can have kick and pull start if you want. I have several Hayden oil coolers on the shelf that fit the 90/110/185/200 series engines and I will be putting one on mine. I don't mind paying extra for something I really want. You really have to get those front ends down for that old time flat track look though. And I seriously do remember people running go kart rear tires and lawn mower rear tires too. I guess I'm old.

   I guess you figured out were I got my Dickson frame from:lol: LOL . MAM was the only supplyer of the dickson frames and he told me he only sold aprox 20 total . I pretty much bought him out as far as atc goodies but you never know shens , seem like every time I make a trip to miami he has somthing else he found from his storage for me .
The ribbed recoil connection is a friend from calif who has tons of the old skool stuff but getting him to dig it out of storage is the problem . :D

Geesh Tim, haven't I fixed you up with enough parts? LOL I haven't seen any new posting for the 90 or the POS 60, come on man! Looks like I might have to make a trip down to Hollywood soon to visit my buddy so I can schlep by and see if I can chisel some of the stash off you shortline! LOL Short, did you ever see the thread about the Valhala of aftermarket trike parts? I was going to get the pictures blown up and hang them up over my bed, that's how fricking hot they are. A certain member on here has access, but he kind of has let it drift off the map some. I've been working on him though. If you see all the goodies you would flip!!!!!

thats kindof weird that the motor wont work. In my bandito frame i have a 1985 110 motor and it was originally a 1980 110.

Is it a motor mount problem they wont line up? is the moutn to wide or is it the cases hitting?

If you notice in the add the motor sits deep into the frame and is a snug fit . The cdi model 110 motors have a larger wider hi/low gear box so it def wont fit . The motor mounts are correct thow .:beer

my bad i thought you meant the motor mounts were wrong. Thats what you get when you type when your tired:lol:

the Bandito frame i noticed makes a big difference it how it handles. does not push as much when turning.

I think you will find its the later model CDI 110's that have the bigger hi/lo range boxes. The earlier CDI models have the same size reduction box as the 90/points 110's.

Your prob right :D .
I will check my 82 110 and see if it's a smaller .
I'm not positive but this frame might require a cut out hi/low set up . Gonna take some measurments today .

You probably wont believe me but its every bit as fast as my race built up 200x's also about 80 or so pounds lighter than a 200x .
If I had to guess at HP probably around 16-22 or so :naughty: .
It def doesnt sound like a atc90 more like a 200x with high compression .
