Oil Questions

Sorry for all the threads :S

My manual says use Honda 4 Stroke Oil for my 250r tranny fluid. Can I use any old 10w-40?

How much 2 stroke oil should I put in one gallon of gas?

Will using low octaine pump gas (86) cause poor performance?

Sorry to ask a question thats asked all the time :s I went with 32:1 and used some nice yamaha 2 stroke oil. Looks a little smokey to me. Any thoughts on the tranny oil?

Don't use 86 octane. I consider 89 a bare minimum. As far as what ratio to run depends on the oil you use (syn or conv)

I bought 92 i think, best they had. Im using a non syn oil. THanks

I always bought a decent brand gear oil for any 2 stroke tranny I had. 6$ - 8$ a quart or something....... I use to run Spectro but there are ALLOT of great oils out there now. Go to a dealer and get something decent....

2 stroke gear box oils seem to break down quick from clutch wear and or water pump seals ever so slightly leaking.

The 4 strokes, I've run Valvoline forever and just change it often with no failures in 10 years plus :D

Cool, thanks Dirtcrasher. I'll get some from the Honda shop. Its an hour away though :(
