In a previous post I said my 81 185s was running a little rich. It has the stock air cleaner on it and needs a new one. I heard good things about the Uni filter and figure it will help it to run a little leaner since this filter flows better? Do they fit into the stock air box? I seen some on ebay for about 20 bucks plus shipping. This would be a good upgrade over the stock filter?

Yeah they fit where the stock filter would and would lean it out if you are running rich. You may still have to monkey with the jetting to get it just right though.

UNI is the best filter you can buy, and it doesnt fall apart when you wash it in gas to get the filter oil out of it.

I guess since I am going to make my 185s be able to breath in better I need it to also flow out better. I've been looking at the Cobra exhaust systems from Dennis-Kirk. Would this be a good upgrade? The engine has lots of compression, cant start it without using compression release. But when I rev it up and put my hand over exhaust it dont seem like anything is getting out the way it should. Its factory exhaust right now. Is the Cobra exhaust system loud? Thanks in advance.

my 200x with cobra pipe is fairly loud, not the loudest, but fairly loud.
