Went for a ride over the July 4th weekend in a place that is about 1.5-2 hours north east of Phoenix (Payson). It is 7500 feet and the weather was wonderful. When we arrived it was 59 degrees, when we left Phoenix highs were 110...Payson is about 30 miles from the Mogollon rim and we watched their fireworks display from the rim.
The terrain is amazing, views are incredible and the riding is a mix of fire roads, and trails cut thru pine forests. My wife only took a handful of pics. The couple who we met there took more photos and I will post more when I get them. Tanya and I are looking to go back again to get away from the heat and all Phoenix and AZ residents will get an invite!!!
At 7500 feet I was not sure how the R would run. I could definitely tell there was power loss, and some sputtering but overall the R ran great. Keep in mind I was following a rhino and UTV's so I could not stay in the pipe. I would back off so I could run wide open and would occassionaly take a ride by myself so I could run the fire roads in 6th pinned.....I can see jetting and tweaking but I did nothing and had no problems all weekend. I will also say the 250r did a great job as a trail bike but now I have to build a beater trike for these kinds of rides.
