I just picked up a YT175, and have plans to restore it. In the midst of doing the normal check of basics things, I go to check the compression. Well......... It is 40 PSI (unfortunately!!). So, what is the compression supposed to be? I am sure it is not 40. Anybody know? Thanks! Also, anybody got a manual scanned or downloaded for a YT175?
4 wheels?

Somewhere above 150 would be a good starting point. I couldn't find any manuals on some of the manual sites.

The haynes manual says it should be 128psi, also when you checked compression did you hold the throttle wide open because thats how you check compression correctly.

Thanks 4 wheels and old-yellow for the info!!! And thanks for the hook up about mike old-yellow. I will try it again with throttle all the way open. 40psi is terrible!!!! I will try it this evening and see what it looks to be. Looking like I got some breakdown work to do. Hope not though! Thanks guys! As always, all info is well appreciated!!!!

If you do have to bore it and put in a new piston I would get a wiseco piston instead of a stock one.
Here is the place I got mine from it was the cheapest place I found.
