Brought this home out of a barn near me as a project. Was told its a 1983 YT175. Spend time cleaning out the carb and got it running on pre-mix. I do not know a lot about these 3 wheelers so I hope this site will help with some of the mods I would like to do to it. The exhaust does not look to be factory, can anyone tell me if it is or not?

A neat little home made hotrod. Not a stock exhaust. Someone had made a neat little yard bomber out of that trike. The tires are alot smaller than stock. It would be a rough ride on anything but a nice level yard or maybe even a small smooth dirt track. Looks like fun. A lot of potential there. You may want to also get another set of rims to have some stock size and shape tires so you can ride it in the bumpy stuff and have it not be too miserable. I'm not sure of the exhaust, maybe a bassani, but it's hard to tell. Welcom to the site and best of luck with your new little hotrod.

Its a project, the person I got it from said he used it on a flat track years ago. Anyone know what size tires I should look for?

The exhaust is made by Cobra. You can barely read the sticker. It does look great. Good luck and welcome to the site.

Nice find it looks like it needs work, but these trikes are so easy to work on. Good luck.

Its going to be a project but at I did get it runnig with out to much trouble. It does have a busted throttle cable on it. I would like to use a twist throttle on it and still runn premix in it. Any one done that and what would be a good one to look for?
i like it, good find. It looks like someone had quite a blast on it at one time

hey i just became a member , i just started buying old three wheelers dont realy know much but if it comes apart it gos back to geather! lolbut i just got a 1983 yt175 and damned if this bike your talking about is the one i just picked up..the whole story about dad flat track cobra exshaust small rims an tires....i cant telll the pix been deleted ill set one up. ive done a few thins to it ,geting ass load of oil out exshaust but when i drain the "clutch case" it stops spitting that oil out....so iam thinking rings and or piston....but this oil injection system got me bent.....now there is a intake and out take hose right......and why is the clutch cable hooked up to this?the oil pump.the person said they bypassed the oil injection and mixed gas ....but would this cause the clutch not to work right......it looks like the inner circlip keep poping off now i need a clutch baskett.....any thoughts would be great

ok so this sounds exacty like the one i picked to the t everthing down to boost can and cobra exhaust whats with the clutch cable being hooked up to the oil pump?

The clutch cable isn't hooked up to the pump, the throttle cable is. A stock yt175 doesn't have a clutch cable, it has a front and rear brake cable and the rear brake cable should be on the right side of the handlbars and the rear brake cable should be a hand cable and a right foot cable.

it was a gimmic yamaha had to store mixed gas/oil mixture in the can/bottle .. So that when you Stab the throttle it would suck from the bottle and smooth things out faster.

The reason that your trike is smoking so bad and spitting oil out the exhaust is because the crankshaft seals are bad, so its burning transmission oil off.

so i had to tear the whole motor down, gay ass gasket maker leaking trans oil out the exshaust i think!? i need a clutch basket its tore up on the outside but not the inside can i still use if i clean it up ?the marks r from the cir clip popping off.......bye the way i was wondering why clutch was hooked up to oil pump than after hours of suffing found out it was a auto cultch!!!!!!!!dumb ass lol any ways i did away with oil pump......why do yuor throtel cabel split off to two cabels?is it because they go to the oil pump ?was there a stock race tri moto because ive seen a few that look excatly like mine but not yours....exshaust, tires, boost canister. any body can help me figure what i have cc wise iam preety sure it 175
Look on the left side of the cylinder by the back bolt it will tell you how many cc the motor is, There was never a stock race trimoto someone bought all those performance parts and put them on and as for the cable it splits so it can control how much oil is injected into the engine.
