I might be getting one of these foe $100. It runs but smokes a little. What all is there to know about these bikes? Being that this would be my first trike, I am new to all this. Are they good, bad, so so? Any information would help.

there great. id look for a 1983 + or at least the front end off a 1983, so you can have suspension. bad enough its a hard tail, other then that. awsome machines.

does the 82 have any suspension at all? and will an 83 front end bolt right up?

a 1982 wont have any what so ever. and a 1983 front end will bolt right on with no mods. you need a different front axle for your hub though iirc, the 1982 had 2 bolts one on each side, a 1983 has a threaded fork on one side, and a 4 bolt clamp to a rounded off end on the other side.

Im still learning things about my 81 185s. First one I ever had, but I love it. Dependable, has the power to get up and go and is powerful enough to haul things around. They have a really good appearance in my opinion too.

185s are sweet machines. Here is an '82 I restored and sold last summer to fund my 200x project. Parts are still easy to find for them and many parts from the 200 are interchangeable.

How much did you sell that restored 185 for?

$375 and I threw in an extra rear fender in decent shape. It wasn't completely restored and the pics make it look better than it did in person but it was still pretty nice.
I didn't make any money on it (probably lost actually) but I put the money towards the 200x I bought for $300. Now I'm into the 200x so far I would never get my money back for it lol.

It was my first trike and I did no research like you are doing so I had no idea I overpaid until I joined here and 3ww. It was probably worth $100-150.

Does anybody have a 185 or other trike that they want to get rid of? Its ok if its not in good shape, i would just like it to run decent or around decent. I really want a trike. lol
