Bought a 200X earlier this spring. I haven't had a chance to use it much yet, but I finally got to ride around the yard the other night. I get a "whoosh" of air when I compress my forks. No visible oil leaking. I'm guessing that quick deflate sound is not what its supposed to sound like. Service manual doesn't specifically address this, other than to rebuild the forks, which I may do anyway. They don't seem unusually soft to me but I don't have much to compare them to except the 300EX. Could the air valve in the fork tube caps leak?
Any help appreciated.

Are you sure it isn't a "fart" from the fork boots themselves?? I've heard that WHOOSH many times.

Take the boots off of the lower leg, loosen up the clamps and see what it sounds like.

Aside from that, it's teardown and rebuild time which is under 100$ if you DIY :D
