are there any axles that would work with a 86 200x besides the stock one?

83/84 250r, you need all the parts from it. sprocket bolts, backing nuts, both axle nuts, tapered washer and the expensive part: a 38t sprocket, sidewinder and sprocket specailists sell them at $100+. Stock axle and 86 200x hubs will bring you to 49". If narrower is needed, aftermarket wheels and flip them around. Stock 83/84 250r or 83-85 hubs will bring it down some, it still may be too wide for woods riding. Also you need to shave the axle carrier, so the bolts don't grind against it on the adjuster tabs. If you got a rad carrier, you don't have that problem. I have a stock axle, its slighlty bent, durablue +4(very rare), several 83/84 atc250r axles. I'll sell one of them. I also have a sidewinder 37t sprocket for 83/84 250r.

My friend used a 300 axle in a 87 200x, he replaced the carrier i think. I used a 1985 axle in mine though

There's a swinger on EBAY - 86 200X with all 300ex running gear in it.

Maybe 300EX fits 350X and 200X????????????????

Wow, I learned something new. Another part that swaps. The 300ex has a bigger axle, so you need the 300ex carrier then. The 300ex axle is the same size 85- 250r, 350x and 450r. If I keep my 200x, I've got more options then.

if so...

what would swap INTO the 83 250r... I can never remember these.

I have the 86 with the 1st generation 200x axle, all you need is the sprocket hub and sprocket. And 2 spacers to make the bearings wider inside the carrier.

i have use a 300 axle in my 86 carrier just fine, had to use the sprocket hub and brake hub. I think we need to make a swap list for the 86-87 200x's!

I found a big problem with 300ex axles in 86/87 200x's. The 86/87 200x axle is 35mm, 300ex axle is 40mm. It would be impossible unless you changed the bearings, center spacer and seals. The axle won't pass through the bearings. 300ex bearings are 40-62-16, I couldn't find the spec for 200x bearings, but 5mm is alot of play. I found a list of bikes that use the same bearings, 200x and 300ex use different bearings and seal.

I can't remember if i did or not, the center spacer is just a tube right? if so that was swaped just not sure on the bearings...I know it was the x carrier though, unless i have a 300ex carrier. I don't have the axle in their now, but i plan on buying another i'll test fit
