Hi..1st post here!
I've never been much of a 3 wheeler guy, but when I was a kid in the 80's they were everywhere and I thought they were cool. It seemed like every kid had an ATC 110. I was a bit left out because my ride was a 1980 RM 125.
I've been turning wrenches on my Motorcycles way too much, so I wanted something very simple mechanically that get me out on the trail for light riding. I was happy to find an excellent condition 1982 ATC 200 that was owned by a Grandpa and left in a barn. It started up, but wouldn't take full throttle. It was almost like a time capsule with the original tires too, so I took it.
When I got it home, I got the carb out and it was filthy with varnish from being run infrequently and then sitting. Some carb cleaner and an oil change later and I'm happy as it starts on the 1st pull. I ride street bikes now, so I had to get a bit used to the handling in the yard for a while before I took it out. I took it in a mud pit and into a small lake and the balloon tires sure did work great.
I really appreciate not having shocks, fork seals, or hydraulics. It's nice to have the sealed drums and chain as well. Less wrenching and more riding is fine with me even though the performance isn't close to my brother's old 350X.
So overall, I'm happy with the purchase and look forward to being a "late to the game" ATC'er.
