I'm rebuilding my 200x with a 10.5 to 1. I haven't ordered the piston yet but I would like the 10.5. Will it run fine on 91 e10? I can find 93 but I don't know if it is e10. If I have to run octane booster I will, I already run it in my race mxz 440 :w00t: thanks

yup That stiff is horrible. Off subject but it ate the seels out of the injectors on my mercury Optimax. I won't even put it in my truck.

Thats all I can get up here. Its in my big red, my 185s, lawnmowers, weedwackers, and vehicles. The sign at the gas station says that it may be up to 10 percent or less so who knows

find you a muncipal airport and buy fuel. I am not sure how bad the moisture affects it in maine, but down here at the coast if you leave fuel in it you will be rebuilding carbs and flushing tanks before every use. The stuff absorbs moisture. Have you ever got water in your oil? thats what the inside of your carb will look like within a month.

I buy my fuel from the airport. It is just slightly more expensive and so much better for your machines that you do not use daily

All we have around here is ethanol blend. I run Mobil 93 in all my small engines and 87 in our cars. Never had a problem.

Ethanol absorbs moisture. It is maid from plants that absorb moisture. it is just in its nature. Get a baking dish and put ethanol in it. Set it out of direct sunlight and watch it for a few weeks. Thats is a good tell, tell to what is is doing to your engine. I understand it is a much drier climate your way. So i cant honestly say what the results are. On .org they had a nice write up about it a few weeks ago.

I use the 10% ethanol blend in my 110, 200es, 400ex, 2 stroke snowmobiles and dirtbike, motorcycle, car, tractors, mowers, and well everything else. If it wont be ridden for more than a couple months I always try to shut off the gas and run the carbs empty, and dump a little seafoam into the tank. the only time I sometimes have to clean a carb is if I forget to run the carb dry or if its something I just bought that has sat. Other than that, no problems here. The 10% ethanol will burn slightly leaner also, but again it has never been enough to cause a problem.

B.S. your B.S. The ethanol actually loosens up all the crud that is in the tank and that is what makes it really bad. If you have a clean tank and carb you shouldn't have a problem. I have gotten in the habit of using Stabil in all my small engines all the time. It's cheap insurance.

Well pretty much everything is ridden daily. Lawnmowers are every few days because I mow lawns on the side. Ditto for the weed wackers. Does anyone have a 10.5 to 1 200x running e10? If I go out and buy straight gas still, what octane is needed to keep the 200x without knocks? straight 91 - 93 I am assuming.

Have you ever seen a carb with ethanol in it after it sat for a few months? Even moto shops don't recommend running ethanol in your bikes. Yes it runs cooler but it burns faster which means more time for you at the pump.

I had my 1984 200x with 10.25:1 and ran it on regular 87 octane, no pops or pings.... that's me though and I rode it hard and hot

Oops it is 10.25 not 10.5. I asked a couple good friends who are good mechanics, one built a 200x and had a tuned 250r. They both said 87 should be fine too but we will see.
thanks for the help everyone

93 is the best bet for your 10.25 to one...

also...if you're willing to jet for e85....you can see power gains.

Ricers around here have been doing it and retuning with decent gains. fuel mileage is shat....but the engines run cooler and harder.

standard PUMP gas 91 octaine is fine. it is only a very TINY percentae of eth. the 10:1 will be fine on the 91 but your going to need to properly tune it. one thing you may consider to ensure it's tune correctly is getting a dial-a-jet kit from online and use that. you can use the stocker jet size and proeprly dial in the fueling needed w/o issues and it woudl probebly be one of your best bets.

BTW guys any pump gas now has a percentage of eth. ANYwhere in the states, so worrying about it is not going to fix the issue. We jsut have to make sure our upkeep on out trikes are done correctly and more often to get it to work right.

I run my 200x with a 12:1 piston in it on e85. Ive had vey few problms with moisture ever, and its been 2 years. Seasonal changes if i havnt rode it much have caused problems like twice. all the crap about it eating seals and gumming up carbs isnt true from my experience.(it will eat some seals, but on a 200x ive had no problems) i havnt had to crack my carb open at all in those 2 years since i switched. the rejet from gas was the bigest issue ive ever had with it. Starting in the winter is also an issue, but there are ways around that.
