nabbed a sweet deal on this 85 250R so now I am giving up on my 83 resto and just selling all its parts. This bike was owned by a jet engine mechanic for the air force. he said he had owned it since 1998 and only put 20 hours on it since then He used to live near glamis but has been transferred around alot and was recently stationed here in NC and brought it along. Lucky for me as these things hardly ever show up for sell here. It has been very well maintained and is scary fast. I am wondering what the deal is with the blue pipe though, is says fmf on it but I cant locate any information on them. any clue what its for or when they were produced?

Thats a very nice 250r you picked up, gratz!!!
Looks like he did a nice job on painting/powdercoating the frame and swinger. I like it in black.
The shape of the pipe looks the same as the new chrome Gold series fatty I have on my 250r.
Enjoy it man!

OOOOooooooo your parting out a 83? I desperatly need a swingarm pivot bolt!!!!!! and a good top end if it was a runner..... nice 250R looks like a chrysler hemi blue engine enamel painted pipe... I would blast it off and either go BBQ black or ceremic coat... or if your old school... blast it and polish it then start spraying wd-40 on it and running it and keep spraying wd-40 on it for the old patina look!

thanks guys, not sure where that blue pipe came from but it runs really strong, at least to me anyway. I think I have a buyer for the 83 250R parts lot, but if not i will let you know, the top end is recent and I have a new swingarm pivot bolt I got from a guy off these forums.

yeah,, I have three fl350's. they were actually easier for me to locate than this 3rd gen 250r

very very very nice 250r . That pipe does look out of place on such a nice wheeler. Maybe pick up a gold one? I would love to get a liquid R one day a 500 or a 250

I am going to ride it of course :)

Yes this is the one listed from goldsboro on Craigslist, wound up getting it for 1k. I guess you saw it too ... I am always up for busco, have never been myself but heard they expanded the dirt area for us sport guys. I have a few friends that I will haul out there soon.

PM me with whatever parts you are getting rid of. I still need a pivot bolt, hubs, headlight, foot pegs, and front/rear brakes for my '83 project.
