I'm transplanting my 85 motor to a new chassis. I have beat this motor for 5 years. I change the oil often and have adjusted the valves. The motor makes no noises and runs perfect, no burned oil, shifts and clutches perfect, great compression etc. Half the bolts break off in this thing so I say why touch a good thing anyway? By now wouldn't this thing at least need rings or something -yet it shows no indication of being tired at all? When should I open it or just leave well enough alone. Hondas just don't die!

If it works, don't fix it.

No, Honda's don't die. My SX has been beaten by my 2 brothers when they were younger as well as their friends who were the initial owners and all my cousins before me. I'd bet my life that it has over 100K miles on it. I was the first one in 13 years to change the fork oil...no problems there. The engine hasn't been touched...just normal oil changes and airfilter cleaning. Its still running storng today, but the clutch is just starting to slip. I say don't touch it unless there is something seriously wrong with it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it

I personally wouldn't touch it at all. One thing you might want to check though... take the caps off (the ones that you would take off if you were adjusting the valves) and check the timing chain for excess slop.

our 110's that we have my dad bought new and they have been beat to he11. in the 20-21 years my dad has owned them they have never even had the valves adjusted, chain, or timing chain. Also rare oil changes and they both run realy dang good for what theyve been through

Just don't try to jump a 110!! Trust me on that! But 110's are fun to ride.

My insane buddy jumped a 110 off of a creek bank that was like 15 feet to the sand & water bed of the creek. Snapped the axle and buried it so deep we had to get a 4X4 chevy with a winch to pull it out. New axle and bearings, and its still running. You cant kill a honda engine, unless its a 2 stroke. Yamaha's on the other hand...well you better keep a couple rebuild kits handy at all times.

I wouldn't touch it unless you want to do a big bore kit or something.

And I jumped my 110 when I had it. Not very high though. :-D
