Going through a friends engine and am to the point of inspecting the engagement dogs on the gears, some signs of wear and tear, usually I just file and sand the high spots off and go on with life but never seen any this bad, how bad is too bad, naturally the manual says any wear replace the gears..

Advice?

I have no idea how this thing shifted the owner didnt get a chance to ride before removing the engine.

Please please please no replies regurgitating something you read in a magazine or on a vendors web site I am looking for guys that have hands on real experience with transmission gears, I can read hype and sales crapola too. I dont need it cut and paste here:p .

Thanks in advance.

Some of it looks like normal acceptable wear.

But some of the parts have definitely suffered some jamming and I wouldn't want to reuse them.

That's a beat up gearbox! I send all of my questionable stuff to MRE. Your choice of cut too. They are top notch, and quick on turn around. If your bike makes some real power, don't chance it. Git it done right!

That looks like a 250r gear set..But besides the point.
I have torn apart enough engines popping out of gear and found those same results on the dogs.

I WOULD NOT run those at all. There is definate evidence of it popping out of gear under acceleration.

I would also replace the forks and fork shafts too, becuase they bear the grunt of a gear popping out, and I am willing to bet, you can wiggle the forks on the fork shafts now too..

If it is a 250R Call up Yukon (I think that is their name) gear. They are in the Dirtwheels add index.
They have the whole gear set 2nd thru 6th for like 379$.
Many of the Honda gears have been discontinued, and are about 40$ a pop, Times 10 gears puts you way over the aftermarket set.
