Hey guys kinda new to the site and need a little help. restoring an 86 X and ordered a DG pipe for it and was wondering if any body could tell me where a good starting point would be on jetting and needle position.

Well thanks for inviting a new member to the board and not helping with a trike problem. Last post is on 5 days with no reply. Is this not the right place to ask questions.

Thanks for the reply

The whole motor was gone thru and everthing is stock except the pipe and uni air filter. Style of riding is going to be a little bit of both. We have alot of long paved roads on our farm and about 600 acres of mountain land with roads and trails. Thanks

What does your plug look like? That's a easy way to tell where your jetting is.

This should help

Would you prefer people reply with something they know very little about??

Jetting is not the same for 2 different 350X's in different condition, at different altitudes, with different air filters, with oil on one filter and not the other, with.............................................. .......................

I pull great with a 142main, a Supertrapp silencer, no airbox lid and an oiled filter.

I bet you'll end up one size larger pilot and a couple on the main, but IDK if you run the AB lid.

Start rich and work down from there.
If it runs great off idle to 1/2, leave the pilot alone.
If it needs thew choke or half choke to run better, richen the pilot.
Put in a fat main, like 145 and do some WOT runs.
I doubt you need to go any fatter than that.

At least it's a 4 stroke so a slightly lean condition won't kill it during jetting.

Welcome to the boards, I'm also trying to get my '86 350x jetted. Right now I have a 150 main jet and I'm still a little lean. Hopefully the 152 will do the trick, or I have to buy some more jets, I'm running a stock header, with a 450r exhaust. I'm also running a uni air filter. I've tried to remove any imprefections in the intake and exhaust ports. Hope this helps you out!

Thanks for all the info. It is getting closer to being finished. The guy who is helping me thought he had some extra jets for me but he didnt. Where is a good place to buy jets.

I buy my through a place called Motovan, but that's here in Canada. They list for $3.99 there and $15 at my local Honda dealer  You should be able to buy them from anybody that sells atc parts.
