Well i just bought a motor of ebay the other day and everything seems perfect on it except for the clutch. It wont disengage when i push the clutch lever out (there is no lever/cable on it yet...i was just pulling on the clutch arm on the side of the motor). It seems like i should be able to put it into gear, pull the clutch and be able to spin the front sprocket correct? I'm not sure when the last time it was run so could the plates just be stuck together? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will only cost you a gasket to take it apart and check it out.
I only had a couple I dealt with but I always put the 89 update kit in them.
They could definitely be stuck and unless your rolling it with the rear tires, you may not get the front sprocket as free as you'd think.
are you just trying to turn the front sprocket by hand? if so then i wouldnt worry about it. There is going to be a slight drag while in gear and the clutch pulled. So you probly cant turn it by hand. i would wait until you installed it in the airfooler before you messed with it.

If it's an aircooled R they have an o-ring on that cover so it should be good to re-use.
