Hey all. I recently bought a 85 Z that needs lots of sorting. Ran great when I brought it home but after it sat for a few days it ran like crap. Bogging and missing. I took the carb apart to find the float was all kind of cracked and messed up. Bought a good used stock Mikuni carb with 20 jets for next to nothing. The new/used carb is much smaller than what was on the Trike. Can anyone help me identify these Mikuni carbs?

The larger carb that was on the bike when I got it. The only numbers that I can find on it are TO Y7 or Y1(hard to tell what is says) and 4v4 00

The "stock" smaller Mikuni I just bought from a forum member has T4 85 and 38W 00 on it.

This is a very cool machine but the deeper I dig the more crap I find wrong with it:( . Seems like a full rebuild might be in the works for this motor. It WAS runnig great even with the compression at 110 lbs so i am hoping I can sort this carb issue and atleast ride it for a while. thanks in advance

What jets are in the second carb pic?

That is a oem Z Carb.Judging by numbers you gave, it is a 85 model carb.

The stock carb has a 450 main in it as it came but I have about every size to put in it should I need to rejet. So the stock carb is 32mm right? Is the Larger one that was on the bike when I got it the 38mm carb everyone talks about upgrading to?

I cant help you with any info on the larger carb.

Take that new OEM carb and make sure it has a 460-480 main in it with the needle in the middle posistion.
Throw it on and see how it performs.
My Z ran great with the stock carb and 480 main in it.
Even 60 over and ported.
Make sure your coil isnt grounding out or arching to the frame also.

Will do. Expect to see me in the forum a lot looking for help with this demon. I'm in too deep to turn back now. I am determined to make her a runner no matter what it takes. How would one expect this to run with only 110 lbs of compression?
