Folks:

I have play or slop in my rear brake braket mount. When applying or locking the rear brakes, I can move the axle forward and back a small amount (1-2 degrees of play), the rear brake rotor bracket also slightly rotates on the rear bearing carrier. It seems the play comes from the elongated slot in the rear brake bracket and the clearance between the bracket and the lock pin.

Is this normal?

Thanks,

Carlos.

I don't know if this is normal or not but... mine's the same way.

Possibly elongated holes in the mounting bracket or the wrong bolts with too small diameter? Made this way to begin with? It doesn't seem to affect the operation of the rear brake.

This is perfectly normal. All 86R brake stays had the slightly elongated hole.

Why? Who knows what Honda was thinking...

Unless you have something assembled wrong - it's just wear....

It's not a precision part/riding on hardened steel etc etc. It's hard to keep those parts from gettin sloppy :)

If you can move the axle back and forth you need some new carrier bearings.
