At first I was thinking of getting a 250 raptor to replace my 250sx but I love the 250sx to much to ride something else(plus its hella fun).

So to boost my confidence out in the bush by myself, I was thinking of mounting a winch on the front rack for when I bury myself.

How would I go about this?

actually i recently helped my buddy install a 2000lb warn winch on the front of his 250sx. firts off throw away your front rack that is no way strong enough to handle a winch. i mad a custom bracket bolting it to the upper and lower triples. other than that its easy to hook up the solinoid and wiring to your battery. but i warn you it will pull your front end all around. i tried it myself and it will twist and turn your front ende whiles its winching depending on the terrain. so beware and dont hurt your self holding on while winching.

sorry i have no pics my buddy has since moved to NV i can try to email him to see if he has any pics of it.

I just picked up a 250sx and a front winch is something I would like to put on my bike as well for when I bury myself. if you could get your friend to send some pictures that would be really helpful. Could you ask him for some close ups so I can mimic the procedure ?

I am going to attempt to put a 2000lb winch on the front of my 250sx once I get it back from the shop, I am sinking $700 in new parts into it and whatever they charge for labor so this is going to be costly.
My question is mainly wondering if a winch will bend or brake my upper and lower triples ? I am guessing a winch on the back would just make the machine more back heavy and not worth my time ?

my buddy and I both have SX's and we ride together a lot. neither one of us has ever been stuck to the point that the other couldnt pull the stuck one out. we have a long tow strap and a "snap strap" which is a bungee like strap that really works great. also we never ride alone, so the other is always there to help out. i would be very nervous about trashing my frame with a winch
