I have been wanting to mod a big red with a little more powerful engine for some time. I have looked high and low for a beefier replacement than the tried and true fourtrax 300 swap. I can across 2 whole 1987 350trx foreman 4x4 bikes. I can get them for nothing, and was thinking about using the engine for the mod. Has anyone ever had any experience with this year model? I know the 350x is a strong performer but I dont want to assume that the shaft driven version is equally stout. Also, since its a 4x4 engine, how hard is it to modify the extra output so that u dont have this ugl lump sticking out in the front? Thanks for any advice on the matter. My ultimate goal is to have enough power to turn much larger tires such as 29"s with ease.

I'd suggest a gearing swap in the inside of a trx300
headover to highlifter.com forums and search for the honda 300 gearing swap
they make big bore kits all the way up to 380cc if memory serves me right....AND there is a fiarly decent aftermarket for the engines.... AND it's geared low to begin with.

Two different engine designs between the trx300 and the 350 foreman motor. The 250es motor shares the same design platform as the trx300, that being what makes the swap so convenient.
